White County Children's Safety Center |
The Need is There
It goes without saying that when a child has been sexually abused, it causes serious emotional trauma that follows them for the rest of their lives. Often, adding to the trauma is an uncoordinated response by the very professionals who are sincerely trying to keep children safe. Also, repeated interviews along with conflicting mandates among the agencies involved often leave victims and their families feeling re-victimized.
The Children's Safety Center (CSC) of White County provides child friendly forensic interviews of reported victims and ensures that appropriate medical exams are completed only when indicated. It also provides crisis intervention counseling for children and their families, tracks cases to make sure none fall through the cracks, and more. The CSC also educates various professionals who may work with children to ensure they are aware of the guidelines the Center uses to achieve its objectives.
The idea for the White County CSC is supported by Judges Robert Edwards and Craig Hannah, the White County Prosecutor's office, the White County Sheriff's Office, the Searcy Police Department, the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division, the Arkansas Department of Human Services and many others. We trust we can count on your support as well. |
